KITE DAY!!

Fun day at Dania Beach, my home spot in Florida!

It is really easy to get there with lots of parking spots and a short walk to the kite spot. No localism and a lot of camaraderie at the beach as it is definitely not a beginner spot must be able to stay upwind and navigate crowds of kiters. Form the kite spot you find a long sandy beach to the North. A long and high wooden pier with a restaurant to the South, stay 100 yards from pier. Look out for a few bigger trees at the beach.

DIRECTIONS:

Exit I-95 at Sheridan Street and drive east until you hit the beach. Turn left after the bridge onto N Ocean Dr. Then drive until you get to Dania Beach. Before E Dania Beach Blvd turn right onto Cambridge Street and first left onto N beach Road, which will end in the parking lot. Drive to its north end and park. Walk for about 200 yards to the water. Just use GPS to get to Dania Beach Pier then park and walk to the beach north of it.

ABOUT CONDITIONS: The best winds blow from November to March. But always look out for squalls with dangerous gusts.

Small choppy waves can get a decent size with stronger winds and swell. Can get very crowded.

IMPORTANT TIPS: Keep distance from the pier. Do not come within 100 yards of shore or land in John U. Lloyd Park immediately to the North where kiteboarding has been banned for years. Do not come within 100 yards or land on the guarded beaches to the south of the fishing pier either.

MOST IMPORTANT: If you can't stay upwind, this is not an acceptable launch.
